Recidivism is a tendency of a convicted criminal to reoffend.One of the greatest challenges in evaluating community correctional programs is identification and development of a comparison group. Because random assignment to correctional programs is rare, most researchers are forced to use quasi-experimental designs in which offenders in the treatment group are “matched” to those not participating in the program.
